# Game Turn Timer vs Chess Timer

The clearest difference is rating: Chess Timer at 4.3 against Game Turn Timer's 2.5. Chess Timer also leads on ratings volume (55 vs 2) and update cadence (every 11 months vs every 22 months). Game Turn Timer's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 43%) and iOS requirement (7.1 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Game Turn Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chess Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Timer has 55 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Game Turn Timer's written reviews are positive against 43% of Chess Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Game Turn Timer ships an update every 22 months, Chess Timer every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
