# BB3 vs Tonal

The clearest difference is update cadence: Tonal at every 3 weeks against BB3's every 6 months. Tonal also leads on ratings volume (11K vs 2). BB3's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for BB3 against 4.9 for Tonal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tonal has 11K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BB3 ships an update every 6 months, Tonal every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
