# Ramen Beast vs The MICHELIN Guide

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The MICHELIN Guide at none against Ramen Beast's 2. The MICHELIN Guide also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.4) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 9 months). Ramen Beast's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 41%) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ramen Beast sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. The MICHELIN Guide asks for nothing beyond the download.

The MICHELIN Guide holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The MICHELIN Guide has 7.6K ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Ramen Beast's written reviews are positive against 41% of The MICHELIN Guide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ramen Beast ships an update every 9 months, The MICHELIN Guide every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
