# Goethe vs B1

The clearest difference is review sentiment: B1 at 78% against Goethe's 30%. B1 also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.0). Goethe's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 24 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Goethe holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: B1 has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Goethe's written reviews are positive against 78% of B1's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Goethe ships an update every 2 months, B1 every 24 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
