# Goethe vs A2

The clearest difference is review sentiment: A2 at 60% against Goethe's 30%. A2 also leads on ratings volume (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.0). Goethe's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 24 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Goethe holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Goethe's written reviews are positive against 60% of A2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Goethe ships an update every 2 months, A2 every 24 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
