# Notepad vs Notes

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Notes at 100% against Notepad's 33%. Notes also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.3) and ads (none vs shown). Notepad's advantage is ratings volume (64 vs 8). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and Notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notepad has 64 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of Notepad's written reviews are positive against 100% of Notes's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
