# SMS Alert vs Ghost

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ghost at 60% against SMS Alert's 0%. Ghost also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (7.7K vs 1). SMS Alert's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 20) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ghost sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. SMS Alert asks for nothing beyond the download.

SMS Alert holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ghost has 7.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of SMS Alert's written reviews are positive against 60% of Ghost's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMS Alert ships an update every 14 months, Ghost every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
