# SubReader vs SubCat

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SubCat at 84% against SubReader's 25%. SubCat also leads on rating (4.8 vs 2.8) and ratings volume (48 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SubReader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and SubCat sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SubCat holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SubCat has 48 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 25% of SubReader's written reviews are positive against 84% of SubCat's.

SubReader ships an update every 3 weeks, SubCat monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and July 25, 2026 respectively.
