# PaintNotes vs 手写宝

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: 手写宝 at none against PaintNotes's 1. 手写宝 also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). PaintNotes's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PaintNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. 手写宝 asks for nothing beyond the download.

PaintNotes ships an update fortnightly, 手写宝 every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
