# PaintNotes vs Unloop

The clearest difference is rating: Unloop at 5.0 against PaintNotes's 3.8. Unloop also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). PaintNotes's advantage is ratings volume (29 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PaintNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Unloop sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Unloop holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PaintNotes has 29 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PaintNotes ships an update fortnightly, Unloop every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
