# Pixel Art Camera vs Retro Pixel Camera

The clearest difference is rating: Pixel Art Camera at 4.6 against Retro Pixel Camera's 4.0. Pixel Art Camera also leads on ratings volume (1.2K vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). Retro Pixel Camera's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pixel Art Camera sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Retro Pixel Camera sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pixel Art Camera holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pixel Art Camera has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Pixel Art Camera ships an update every 5 weeks, Retro Pixel Camera every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
