# Backgammon vs Backgammon Legends

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Backgammon at 89% against Backgammon Legends's 17%. Backgammon also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). Backgammon Legends's advantage is ratings volume (45K vs 347) and chart position (#109 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and Backgammon Legends sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Legends has 45K ratings behind it against 347, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 89% of Backgammon's written reviews are positive against 17% of Backgammon Legends's.

Backgammon ships an update monthly, Backgammon Legends every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 7, 2026.
