# TextMagic vs PlaceChatter

The clearest difference is ratings volume: TextMagic at 267 against PlaceChatter's 3. PlaceChatter's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for TextMagic against 4.7 for PlaceChatter. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextMagic has 267 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

TextMagic ships an update every 2 weeks, PlaceChatter every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
