# Focus Matrix vs RandomTimer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Focus Matrix at 82% against RandomTimer's 0%. Focus Matrix also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 3). RandomTimer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 7 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focus Matrix sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. RandomTimer asks for nothing beyond the download.

RandomTimer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus Matrix has 1.6K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Focus Matrix's written reviews are positive against 0% of RandomTimer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Focus Matrix ships an update every 7 months, RandomTimer every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
