# QR Code Reader vs QR Code Reader ®

The clearest difference is rating: QR Code Reader ® at 4.5 against QR Code Reader's 2.6. QR Code Reader ® also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (14K vs 8). QR Code Reader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 12) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. QR Code Reader ® sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. QR Code Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

QR Code Reader ® holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Code Reader ® has 14K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of QR Code Reader's written reviews are positive against 33% of QR Code Reader ®'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
