# SOSMS vs Alert

The clearest difference is update cadence: Alert at every 2 months against SOSMS's every 43 months. Alert also leads on iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SOSMS ships an update every 43 months, Alert every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
