# GuideDoc Curated Documentaries vs DocuBay

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GuideDoc Curated Documentaries at 86% against DocuBay's 40%. GuideDoc Curated Documentaries also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3). DocuBay's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 3.6) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DocuBay sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. GuideDoc Curated Documentaries asks for nothing beyond the download.

DocuBay holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 17 and 50 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of GuideDoc Curated Documentaries's written reviews are positive against 40% of DocuBay's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GuideDoc Curated Documentaries ships an update every 3 months, DocuBay monthly. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
