# Grid Maker vs PhotoSplit for Instagram

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Grid Maker at 71% against PhotoSplit for Instagram's 37%. Grid Maker also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). PhotoSplit for Instagram's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (28K vs 191). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Grid Maker sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per 7 days and PhotoSplit for Instagram sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PhotoSplit for Instagram holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PhotoSplit for Instagram has 28K ratings behind it against 191, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Grid Maker's written reviews are positive against 37% of PhotoSplit for Instagram's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Grid Maker ships an update weekly, PhotoSplit for Instagram every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
