# Data Guard by SmarTone vs NetGuard

The clearest difference is review sentiment: NetGuard at 75% against Data Guard by SmarTone's 38%. NetGuard also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (145 vs 1). Data Guard by SmarTone's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NetGuard sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. Data Guard by SmarTone asks for nothing beyond the download.

Data Guard by SmarTone holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NetGuard has 145 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Data Guard by SmarTone's written reviews are positive against 75% of NetGuard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Data Guard by SmarTone ships an update every 5 weeks, NetGuard every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
