# Civil Engineering vs PrepFE

The clearest difference is rating: PrepFE at 4.2 against Civil Engineering's 2.5. PrepFE also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 26 months) and ratings volume (22 vs 2). Civil Engineering's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 6) and review sentiment (100% vs 75%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PrepFE sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Civil Engineering asks for nothing beyond the download.

PrepFE holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PrepFE has 22 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Civil Engineering's written reviews are positive against 75% of PrepFE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Civil Engineering ships an update every 26 months, PrepFE monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
