# ™ Chess vs Chess Move

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chess Move at every 3 weeks against ™ Chess's every 4 months. ™ Chess's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (10K vs 1.1K). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ™ Chess sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess Move sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

™ Chess holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ™ Chess has 10K ratings behind it against 1.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 37% of ™ Chess's written reviews are positive against 27% of Chess Move's.

™ Chess ships an update every 4 months, Chess Move every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
