# RefLIVE vs Referee Tools

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RefLIVE at none against Referee Tools's 2. RefLIVE also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months). Referee Tools's advantage is review sentiment (70% vs 40%). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Referee Tools sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. RefLIVE asks for nothing beyond the download.

RefLIVE holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RefLIVE has 26 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of RefLIVE's written reviews are positive against 70% of Referee Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RefLIVE ships an update fortnightly, Referee Tools every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
