# MetricWire vs Spotlight

The clearest difference is rating: Spotlight at 4.2 against MetricWire's 2.3. Spotlight also leads on ratings volume (28 vs 7). MetricWire's advantage is review sentiment (33% vs 13%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Spotlight holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 7 and 28 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of MetricWire's written reviews are positive against 13% of Spotlight's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MetricWire ships an update monthly, Spotlight every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
