# Puppet Bird vs Rocket Buddy

The clearest difference is monetization model: Puppet Bird at free with in-app purchases against Rocket Buddy's subscription. Puppet Bird also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 28 months). Rocket Buddy's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 4) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Puppet Bird sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Rocket Buddy sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Rocket Buddy holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rocket Buddy has 11K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Puppet Bird's written reviews are positive against 69% of Rocket Buddy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Puppet Bird ships an update every 9 days, Rocket Buddy every 28 months. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
