# Countdown Timer vs KeyHour

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Countdown Timer at none against KeyHour's 3. Countdown Timer also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 54). KeyHour's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 7 months) and review sentiment (94% vs 85%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. KeyHour sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year. Countdown Timer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Countdown Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown Timer has 1.2K ratings behind it against 54, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 85% of Countdown Timer's written reviews are positive against 94% of KeyHour's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Countdown Timer ships an update every 7 months, KeyHour every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
