# CarAdvise vs Mechanic

The clearest difference is rating: Mechanic at 5.0 against CarAdvise's 2.6. CarAdvise's advantage is ratings volume (160 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mechanic holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CarAdvise has 160 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CarAdvise ships an update every 6 weeks, Mechanic every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
