# Lockly Vault vs NETGEAR VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: NETGEAR VPN at free with in-app purchases against Lockly Vault's subscription. NETGEAR VPN also leads on rating (3.3 vs 3.1). Lockly Vault's advantage is review sentiment (46% vs 36%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lockly Vault sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and NETGEAR VPN sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $49.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NETGEAR VPN holds the better App Store score, 3.3 against 3.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 29 and 47 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of Lockly Vault's written reviews are positive against 36% of NETGEAR VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Lockly Vault ships an update monthly, NETGEAR VPN every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
