# Saxophone Song Master vs YDS Controller

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: YDS Controller at none against Saxophone Song Master's 23. YDS Controller also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (175 vs 4). Saxophone Song Master's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 38%) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Saxophone Song Master sells 23 one-off in-app purchases. YDS Controller asks for nothing beyond the download.

YDS Controller holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: YDS Controller has 175 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Saxophone Song Master's written reviews are positive against 38% of YDS Controller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Saxophone Song Master ships an update every 5 weeks, YDS Controller every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
