# VPN vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is ads: VPN at none against Secure VPN's shown. VPN also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 14.0). Secure VPN's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (82% vs 59%). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.49 per month and Secure VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 235 and 409 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 82% of Secure VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN ships an update every 6 weeks, Secure VPN weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
