# Grade Control vs Pupil | Grades

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Pupil | Grades at 79% against Grade Control's 30%. Pupil | Grades also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 6). Grade Control's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Grade Control sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year. Pupil | Grades asks for nothing beyond the download.

Grade Control holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grade Control has 495 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Grade Control's written reviews are positive against 79% of Pupil | Grades's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Grade Control ships an update monthly, Pupil | Grades every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
