# First Millennium Encyclopedia vs Gaydex

The clearest difference is update cadence: Gaydex at every 2 days against First Millennium Encyclopedia's every 3 weeks. First Millennium Encyclopedia's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. First Millennium Encyclopedia sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Gaydex sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for First Millennium Encyclopedia against 5.0 for Gaydex. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: First Millennium Encyclopedia has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

First Millennium Encyclopedia ships an update every 3 weeks, Gaydex every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
