# Encyclopedia vs Animapedia

The clearest difference is ads: Encyclopedia at none against Animapedia's shown. Animapedia's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encyclopedia sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Animapedia sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Animapedia holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 15 and 25 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Encyclopedia's written reviews are positive against 100% of Animapedia's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
