# Speech Central vs Kite

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Kite at 100% against Speech Central's 69%. Kite also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Speech Central's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speech Central sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Kite sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Kite holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speech Central has 1.6K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 69% of Speech Central's written reviews are positive against 100% of Kite's.

Speech Central ships an update every 9 days, Kite every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
