# RaceChrono Pro vs Hotlap

The clearest difference is price: Hotlap at Free against RaceChrono Pro's $19.99. Hotlap also leads on review sentiment (69% vs 57%). RaceChrono Pro's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and chart position (#11 vs unranked). On ratings volume, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Hotlap is free to download; RaceChrono Pro costs $19.99 up front. RaceChrono Pro sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Hotlap sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RaceChrono Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 184 and 79 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of RaceChrono Pro's written reviews are positive against 69% of Hotlap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
