# Private VPN Proxy vs VPN

The clearest difference is ads: Private VPN Proxy at none against VPN's shown. VPN's advantage is review sentiment (90% vs 65%) and ratings volume (2.1M vs 36K). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Private VPN Proxy sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Private VPN Proxy against 4.6 for VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 2.1M ratings behind it against 36K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 65% of Private VPN Proxy's written reviews are positive against 90% of VPN's.

Private VPN Proxy ships an update every 3 weeks, VPN weekly. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
