# VPN Windscribe vs freemail

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: freemail at none against VPN Windscribe's 10. freemail also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). VPN Windscribe's advantage is ratings volume (35K vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Windscribe sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. freemail asks for nothing beyond the download.

freemail holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Windscribe has 35K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
