# TotalAV vs AI Security

The clearest difference is monetization model: TotalAV at freemium against AI Security's subscription. TotalAV also leads on chart position (#95 vs unranked) and ratings volume (72K vs 9.6K). AI Security's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 24%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TotalAV sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and AI Security sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for TotalAV against 4.5 for AI Security. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TotalAV has 72K ratings behind it against 9.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 24% of TotalAV's written reviews are positive against 50% of AI Security's.

TotalAV ships an update every 6 weeks, AI Security every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
