# Africall vs PDF Reader

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Reader at 4.3 against Africall's 3.0. PDF Reader also leads on ratings volume (408 vs 8). Africall's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Africall sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and PDF Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Reader has 408 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 15% of Africall's written reviews are positive against 20% of PDF Reader's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
