# HP Sprocket vs VPhoto

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HP Sprocket at none against VPhoto's 7. HP Sprocket also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPhoto sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. HP Sprocket asks for nothing beyond the download.

HP Sprocket holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HP Sprocket has 66K ratings behind it against 6.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of HP Sprocket's written reviews are positive against 48% of VPhoto's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HP Sprocket ships an update every 3 weeks, VPhoto every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
