# Math Central vs Skim

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Math Central at none against Skim's 4. Math Central also leads on ratings volume (43 vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.1 vs 17.0). Skim's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Skim sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Math Central asks for nothing beyond the download.

Skim holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math Central has 43 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Math Central ships an update every 2 months, Skim every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
