# Candleman vs Slender Threads

The clearest difference is update cadence: Slender Threads at every 3 weeks against Candleman's every 11 months. Slender Threads also leads on ratings volume (442 vs 41). Candleman's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Candleman sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Slender Threads sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Candleman against 4.6 for Slender Threads. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Slender Threads has 442 ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 88% of Candleman's written reviews are positive against 83% of Slender Threads's.

Candleman ships an update every 11 months, Slender Threads every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
