# BookPlayer vs Dianetics

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dianetics at none against BookPlayer's 15. Dianetics also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 10 days) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). BookPlayer's advantage is ratings volume (20K vs 30) and chart position (#60 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookPlayer sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Dianetics asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for BookPlayer against 4.9 for Dianetics. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BookPlayer has 20K ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 83% of BookPlayer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Dianetics's.

BookPlayer ships an update every 10 days, Dianetics every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
