# BookPlayer vs Tome Player

The clearest difference is rating: BookPlayer at 4.8 against Tome Player's 3.7. BookPlayer also leads on ratings volume (20K vs 3) and chart position (#70 vs unranked). Tome Player's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 15) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookPlayer sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Tome Player asks for nothing beyond the download.

BookPlayer holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BookPlayer has 20K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of BookPlayer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tome Player's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BookPlayer ships an update every 10 days, Tome Player every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
