# OCR Buddy vs NinjaTrainer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: OCR Buddy at none against NinjaTrainer's 4. OCR Buddy also leads on ratings volume (36 vs 3) and device support (3 vs 1). NinjaTrainer's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months). On price, rating and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NinjaTrainer sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. OCR Buddy asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for OCR Buddy against 5.0 for NinjaTrainer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OCR Buddy has 36 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OCR Buddy ships an update every 2 months, NinjaTrainer every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
