# Choir Player vs TypeStory

The clearest difference is rating: TypeStory at 4.5 against Choir Player's 3.8. TypeStory also leads on ratings volume (3K vs 12) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). Choir Player's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 63%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Choir Player sells 81 one-off in-app purchases and TypeStory sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TypeStory holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TypeStory has 3K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Choir Player's written reviews are positive against 63% of TypeStory's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Choir Player ships an update every 3 weeks, TypeStory every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
