# italki vs Eleo

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Eleo at none against italki's 4. Eleo also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 68%). italki's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (9.8K vs 30). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. italki sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Eleo asks for nothing beyond the download.

italki holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: italki has 9.8K ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of italki's written reviews are positive against 100% of Eleo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

italki ships an update weekly, Eleo fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
