# italki vs Chechen M(A)L

The clearest difference is rating: italki at 4.8 against Chechen M(A)L's 4.0. italki also leads on ratings volume (9.8K vs 1). Chechen M(A)L's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. italki sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Chechen M(A)L asks for nothing beyond the download.

italki holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: italki has 9.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of italki's written reviews are positive against 100% of Chechen M(A)L's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
