# OilTrails vs RiverPilot

The clearest difference is update cadence: RiverPilot at fortnightly against OilTrails's every 5 weeks. RiverPilot also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OilTrails sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and RiverPilot sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OilTrails ships an update every 5 weeks, RiverPilot fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
