# Roots vs Powers & Roots

The clearest difference is rating: Powers & Roots at 5.0 against Roots's 4.1. Powers & Roots also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 32 months). Roots's advantage is ratings volume (22 vs 3) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Roots sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Powers & Roots sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Powers & Roots holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Roots has 22 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Roots ships an update every 32 months, Powers & Roots every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
