# LocalBeacons vs My CrewMate

The clearest difference is rating: My CrewMate at 5.0 against LocalBeacons's 3.9. LocalBeacons's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

My CrewMate holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LocalBeacons has 25 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

LocalBeacons ships an update every 3 weeks, My CrewMate every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
